Bolghatty

Bolghatty palace is located at Kochi and is set amidst lush, tropical greenery. It was built by the Dutch in 1744 and is situated on the Bolghatty Island just off Kochi in the Arabian Sea. One of the oldest existing Dutch palaces outside Holland, this quaint mansion was built way back in 1744 by a Dutch trader. In 1909 the palace was leased to the British and it served as their residency till 1947 when the British Raj came to an end in India. Earlier the Dutch and later British used the palace as Governor's residence. Today, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation has transformed the palace into a tourist hotel and there are frequent boat services from Kochi to the palace. There is a canopied garden, which is an added attraction to this island. This palace has now been converted into a heritage hotel and has a beautiful golf course amidst stunning and serene surroundings. It is located amidst lush green tropical environs, complete with fantastic scenery of the backwaters. The place has a quiet laid-back charm about it. The palace is two storied and is tastefully done up and decorated. The bedchambers are well-furnished with attached bathrooms. Different suites cater to different needs and tastes of people. There is a relaxed, and quiet environment and all modern facilities are provided like a mini golf course, swimming pool, Ayurvedic center and daily Kathakali performances.
