The state of Kerala lies in the southern side of India. It has 14 revenue districts and most of these districts in Kerala have the same name as the important town or city in the district. These districts are further divided into 62 taluks, 1453 revenue villages and 1007 Gram Panchayats.

The District Collector in each of these districts is in charge of the governance of the district. They are officers of the Indian Administrative Service and are the most powerful government officials of the district.
