Nellyampathy

Nelliyampathy is one of the most charming hill stations with high hills, mist and rain, verdant topography, orange, coffee and tea gardens, pockets of gooseberry trees, dense jungle packed with wildlife and lofty peaks. Nellyampathy is some 17 kms from Palakkad and 52 kms south of Nemmara. This hill station is at a height of 467 to 1572 m above sea level. The cool hills of Nelliampathy, nestling atop the Western Ghats, offer a breathtaking view of the misty mountains and enchanting valleys interspersed with sprawling tea, coffee, cardamom and orange plantations. There are about 10 hairpin bends that pass through the evergreen forests that have to be negotiated to reach this place. Seethakundu at Nellyampathy offers a panoramic view of about one-third area of Palakkad district. The height of the hills at Nellyampathy ranges from 467 metres to the tallest peak Padagiri looming at 1572 metres. Nelliyampathy has immense trekking potential. The community hall at Kaikatty provides a good camping ground for the trekkers. The Nelliyampathy hills comprise a chain of ridges cut off from one another by valleys of dense evergreen forests and orange plantations. The Ghat road with the 10 hairpin bends pass through the breathtaking evergreen forests of Sahya Ranges.
