Ooty

Ooty is one of the most beautiful hill stations in India. Ooty or Udhagamandalam is located at a distance of 105 Kms from Coimbatore and is referred to as the 'Queen of Hill Stations'. The main attraction at one of the most enchanting hill stations in the country is the Botanical Gardens, Ooty Lake, Dodabetta Peak, Lamb's Rock, Kodanadu's View Point and Kalhatty Waterfalls. The Tea Plantations

One of the most beautiful sights are the thick layer of tea gardens spread over Ooty's landscape. Ooty is one of the major producers of tea in India. It was first introduced into the Nilgiris in 1860.

The Ooty Lake

The Ooty lake was artificially created by Johm Sullivan, the founder of Ooty, in 1823-25 by damming the mountain streams flowing down Ooty valley. The calm waters of this lake attracts visitors to it and the lake has a boathouse with rowboats and motorboats which are available for hire.

Botanical Gardens

The Ooty Botanical Garden was established in 1847 and has a wide variety of herbs, shrubs and plants. The garden has a wide variety of flowers with over a 1000 variety of roses. One of the great surprises of the place is a fossil tree trunk that is believed to be 20 million years old.

The Golf Course

The golf course of Ooty called the Ootacamund Golf Course is the finest natural golf course in the world. It is over a 100 years old and is a delight to play on. It attracts some of the most avid golfers of the nation.

Wellington

On the way to Coonoor from Ooty is Wellington. Wellington is a military town with rows and rows of barracks. The headquarters of the Madras Regimental Centre, the Indian Army and the Defence Staff College are located here. The more attractiveness of the place is the scenic beauty with the tea plantations.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary

Mudumalai wildlife Sanctuary is a continuation of the Bandipur National Park. It is located around 67 kms from Ooty and is one of the most beautiful animal habitats spread over an area of 321 sq kms. There are a large variety of animals and birds which can be found here and these include the wild elephants, a great variety of birds, cats, snakes and deer.

Doddabetta Peak

Doddabetta Peak is the highest peak in the Nilgiri chain of mountains and stands at a height of around 2623 ms. The hill offers a beautiful view of the Nilgiri hill ranges.

Train: Ooty is also connected by train services.

Road: Ooty is well connected by roads and could be accessed from most of the towns and cities of neighbouring Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
