Amoung other crafts of Kerala one of the most popular are the Papier-Mache masks of Kerala dancers in different poses. Kathakali faces are one of the common subject matter of Papier-Mache. Banana Plant fibre, Cora grass, Rice straw etc are used to make various products. Banana fibre is woven into floor coverings, each a square foot in size, and are then stitched together according to the size desired, Rice straw is used to form a silken collage of native scenery on black silk and Cora grass is used to make mats. Kerala is famous for the making of some of the musical instruments like Chenda, Maddalam, Mridangam, Edakya, flute etc. Chenda, Maddalam, Mridangam, Edakya are made out of the wood of the jackfruit tree to produce the unique, deep sound. The drum heads of these instruments are made of leather. Flute is carved out of bamboo.
