Thiruvallam Backwaters

Thiruvallam is located 6 kms from Thiruvananthapuram and is a beautiful backwater destination. Two rivers meet here - the Killi and the Karamana. It is known for its canoe. Near Thiruvallam is the Veli Lagoon where there are water sports, a waterfront park and a floating bridge. The Akulam Boat club, which offers boating cruises on Akulam Lake and a park for children, is also a popular tourist attraction near Thiruvallam. A temple dedicated to Parashurama, the legendary founder of Kerala, is also located here, where tourists in large numbers come every year to offer prayers. Thiruvallam Backwaters are a soothing sight for sore eyes. You can just lie back and float along on a Houseboat and visit the local fishing villages. You will find some exotic flowers, vegetation, water birds and others things of interest. The Thiruvallam backwaters gives you an opportunity to just float along on a houseboat and pass through lush paddy fields and beautiful countryside where life continues in an age-old rhythm.
