Vettukadu Perunal

The Madre De Teus Church, popularly known as Vettukadu church, is situated around 7 kms from Thiruvananthapuram. This church was re - established in its present form in 1934 under the supervision of St. Francis Xavier. Here Christ the King blesses with all his love and compassion and believed to have miraculous power over his devotees. The annual festival of the church is celebrated over ten days culminating in the last Sunday of the liturgical year. The annual celebration here is called the "Feast of Christ the King". A solemn High Mass, sermons, Eucharistic procession and benediction mark the final day. The perunal is celebrated in the month of October and lasts for eleven days. The main events of the festivities are the holy mass, cultural programs and processions. Thousands of devotees from all over South India gather here to participate in the celebrations.
