Museum of Kerala

The Museum of Kerala is located around 10 kilometres from Ernakulam, Kochi. This museum is the best place to have a quick glimpse of the past of Kerala. To the entrance of this museum you can find the statue of the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, sage Parashurama who is said to have built Kerala. There are life size statues and sculptures that illustrate the important landmarks in our civilisation right from the Stone Age to the modern times. The museum is famous for its light and sound show in which the 2000-year-old history of Kerala is shown. The entire history and the makers of Kerala are displayed. You can see the diverse cultural and traditional heritage of Kerala. This museum is also known as Madhavan Nayar Foundation. The Museum of Kerala History at Edapally also houses the Madhavan Nayar Foundation Gallery of Paintings and Sculptures and the Center for Visual Arts. The inconspicuous Madhavan Nayar Foundation Gallery showcases some immortal creations, which gives a glimpse of the magnificent past and rich cultural heritage of Kerala. The gallery displays the works of some of the greatest exponents of Indian art. Some of the great masters whose works are on display include Raja Ravi Varma, Mammiyoor Krishhan Kutty Nair, Jamini Roy, Manu Parekh and M F Hussain.

Airport: Cochin airport is the nearest one to reach Ernakulam

Railway: There are three main railway junctions at Ernakulam town, Cochin harbour and Ernakulam junction.

Road: Ernakulam and Cochin is well connected by a wide network of roads and is easily accessible.
