Vythiri Hill Station

Vythiri is situated 100 kms from Kozhikode and is a beautiful hill station about 1300 m above sea level. It is a located in the sylvan Northern High Ranges of Kerala in Wayanad district. There are coffee, tea, cardamom, pepper and rubber plantations in this area. There are acres and acres of lush green land interspersed with perennial streams and rolling hills, at Vythiri. There are the mist-capped mountains and breathtaking scenery that add to the tourist attraction. A beautiful district of sprawling spice plantations, luxuriant forests and rich cultural traditions. Vythiri, has been able to retain its pristine nature over the years and makes an excellent picnic spot for both locals and tourists. The resort at Vythiri is just 60 kms from Calicut. The cottages and huts at the resort are in the ethnic styles, taking one back to an indigenous tribal village where simplicity and harmony reigned supreme. The only Hill station resort of its kind in Kerala spread over 150 acres and eco-friendly, designed in the traditional Kerala Architectural style. Rope bridge leads to cottages cantilevered over streams. Power off at midnight, lantern lights, the music of nature and the chill of highland caressing anyone to sleep. The climate is mildly cool, just fine - neither too cold, nor warm. Vythri is also en-route by road to Bangalore, Mysore and Ooty from Calicut. The drive is picturesque. You have to wind through the Western ghats, escaping from the sultry climate below to a perfect, cool and temperate climate at Vythiri. It is a picturesque place exclusive, comfortable, refreshing, pollution free and inspiring. It is also situated near the Pookode Lake, in Wayanad District. Vythiri had been a retreat for English planters during colonial era.
